You want to participate? Then click on the button „Registration“ and fill in the form. The application deadline is November 1st.

2. We allot the cooking teams...

We will try to allot a German participant and one from abroad to one cooking team. A few days before Giessen kocht! the contact details of your cooking partner will be send to you via email. At the same time you will get the information which course you will prepare and where you will be served the other courses.

3. This lies ahead of you...

Call your mom or ask your grandma for recipes... then get in touch with your cooking partner and get creative! Don’t forget, that your guests will be thirsty so don’t forget the drinks :-)

4. And here an example how the evening might look like...

In total there will always be three cooking teams at one point at the same time. You always eat the courses together with your cooking partner and will meet four new people at each course. Let’s suppose you cook the main course. In this case you have already prepared the meal (depending on how time consuming the preparation is), because between the courses you don’t have a lot of time to to prepare a whole extraordinary meal.

First course...

At 6: 30 p.m. you start! In this example you are guests at the first course. So you take your bike, bus or whatever you want to get to the designated adress for the first course. There you will be spoilt with a good meal and drinks. Take care to start there on time so you are not too late for the second course. In this case you cook the next course. Maybe you have to leave even earlier if you still have lots to prepare.

Main course...

At 8 p.m. you are hosts for two other cooking teams. You are either at your or your cooking partner’s place – depending on the bigger kitchen. Even if it is hard to say goodbye, you will meet your new acquaintances at the after dinner party. So say goodbye to your guests and head off to the last course.

Dessert...

At 10 p.m. you meet at the host’s who have prepared the desserts. Enjoy and start getting into party mood.

After- Dinner- Party...

At 11 p.m. the party starts at Ulenspiegel (Seltersweg 55, Giessen). Even if the dessert was especially good or if it is heavy in your stomach- remember all the great acquaintances and the cooking tips at the party- don’t let them wait.

FAQ

Who can participate at Gießen kocht!?
The idea is to help students from abroad and students in their first year to get in contact with long time residents. But everyone 18 years and older is welcome to participate!

Where does Giessen kocht! take place?
Mainly in Gießen- City! During the planning we also consider the distance between the courses.

Do I also swap my cooking partner?
No, the cooking partners stay together. You will therefore head from one course to the next with your cooking partner.

Is Gießen kocht! a dating event?
No! Altough we try to mix the cooking teams after their sex other than their origin it is not a dating event.

How many people eat one course?
In total always three cooking teams, so there are always six people.

Can I participated even if I don’t have enough room for six people?
Of course! When you fill in the application form just click on the button, saying that you don’t have enough room. Consequently your course will be served at your cooking partner’s place.

How much does it cost to participate?
It doesn’t cost anything besides the money for food and drinks for your course.

How extraordinary should the meal be?
Be creative! It does not depend on how much you spend on the meal! The fun should go first.

I have applied but now I have no time to participate.
Because the planning is pretty complicated, please contact us as early as possible and cancel.

How will I know who my cooking partner is and where I will have to go?
On the Saturday before Giessen kocht! you will get an email with the necessary information.

I have signed up but never received an email.
If you haven’t received an email until Sunday then send us an email as soon as possible!

Can I come to the After- Dinner- Party even if I don’t participate?
Of course!!!
